Recipe: Auntie Lena’s Italian Christmas Cookie Recipe

Ingredients

  • Cookies
  • 1-cup butter
  • 1-cup sugar
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 tsp. Vanilla (or your favorite extract)
  • 4 cups flour
  • 1/4 cup baking power
  • 1/2 tsp. Salt
  • 1 bottle nonpareils
  • Frosting
  • 2 cups confectionary sugar
  • 1 tsp. Anise
  • 2 tbs. Water
  • 1-drop food color (red)

Instructions

  1. Combine butter, sugar, eggs, and vanilla.
  2. Sift flour with baking powder and salt and add to mix.
  3. Refrigerate for 1 hour.
  4. Roll in to 1″ balls.
  5. Bake on ungreased cookie sheet at 350 for 10 Minutes.
  6. Let cool, then frost and top with nonpareils.
